We apply the latest developments in phylogenetic (PhyloChip)and functional (GeoChip) microarrays as well as next generation sequencing techniques (MiSEQ) to assess the phylogenies and functions of microbial communities living in metal-rich soils, sediments and other regolith material and deeper rock formations.
