Truly inspired research!
Decade long close collaboration of MHM-Group with Prof DH Nies’ group at the University of Halle-Wittenberg in Germany is bearing important fruit.
After years of careful planning and experimentation three ground-breaking papers now reveal the biochemistry of how the aurophilic (i.e., gold-loving) bacterium Cupriavidus metallidurans detected to date on natural gold particles from sites on four continents, deals with gold toxicity and produces gold nanoparticles, the building blocks of secondary gold, in the processes.
