In the Microbes and Heavy Metal Group (MHMG) we use a wide range of state-of-the-art optical and electron microscopic techniques large provided through Adelaide Microscopy at the University of Adelaide. Techniques include Focussed Ion Beam-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Epifluorescence and Confocal Laser Microscopy to characterise microbial cells and their interaction with heavy metals and biominerals.
